DR CONGO : Third day of mission successfully completed

The delegation of SONAMINES, led by its General Manager, Serge Hervé BOYOGUENO, is serenely touring the mining sector-dedicated State bodies of The Congo Republic.

Wednesday, October 12, 2022, was an occasion for SONAMINES’ envoys ,to keep abreast with the realities of this field, through a work visit to the Non-industrial and Small-scale Mining Support and Monitoring Service (SAEMAPE). The General Manager and his team were received by the CEO of this structure set up in 2017 and represented in 26 provinces of the DRC. SAEMAPE is in charge of monitoring the flow of non-industrial and small -scale mining raw materials, from the mining site to the sales point, in a bid to channel and quantify the overall production within the official marketing circuit. The mainly targeted mineral substances are diamond, gold, coltan, cassiterite, copper ores, building materials, precious and semi-precious stones.

Later in the day, the delegation went to the Mining Cadastre Department (CAMI), where its General Manager, Jean Felix MUPANDE KAPWA, presented the operating mechanisms of this important structure specialized in the registration, and processing of applications for the granting, and the renewal or transfer of mining and quarry rights.

On Thursday, the delegation of SONAMINES will be taking part in a working session at the National Geology Service of the DRC, before hitting the road towards Lubumbashi, as it steadfastly continues its journey.
