The first regular session of the Board of Directors was held on Tuesday, June 22, 2021

The first ordinary session of the Board of Directors of the Société Nationale des Mines (SONAMINES), was held at the Hôtel Mont-Fébé in Yaoundé, on Tuesday 22 June 2021, under the chairmanship of Mr. Blaise MOUSSA, Chairman of the Board.

Mr. Serge Hervé BOYOGUENO, Director General of SONAMINES, reported on the items on the agenda, assisted by Mr. Fru Johnathan, Deputy Director General.

This session comes two months after the appointment of officials of the governing bodies of this corporation created by Presidential Decree No. 2020/749 of December 14. It should be noted that this session is held in a context marked by the urgency of getting SONAMINES operational through the adoption of texts and the first basic tools of strategic management.

During the deliberations, the Board of Directors considered important issues and adopted resolutions relating to the effective takeoff of SONAMINES, including: the start-up budget and the priority action plan. These resolutions will allow SONAMINES to continue the gold purchase activities, the promotion of geological and mining information and the follow-up of exploration and mining activities. Four internal Commissions have been constituted within the Board of Directors in accordance with the statutes. These are the Public Procurement Commission, the Strategy Commission, the Audit and Governance Commission and the Environment and Social Issues Commission.

The Board of Directors adopted the budget of SONAMINES for the year 2021, balanced in revenue and expenditure to three billion seven hundred and seventy-four million seven hundred and seventy-five thousand (3 774 775 000) FCFA.

The Board warmly congratulated the General Management and encouraged it to persevere in its efforts.

Finally, it took the necessary steps to prepare for the Ordinary General Assembly. /-
